St Neots Town    1    Biggleswade United    2

Cameron Mawer’s new look Saints side fell to a narrow defeat in their opening Pre Season Friendly at the Premier Plus Stadium, watched by an amazing crowd of 456 supporters.

Biggleswade United F.C. - WikipediaMissing at least five players due to holidays, family commitments and niggling injuries, this gave manager Cameron and his assistant, George Thorne, the opportunity to cast their eye over a number of trialists and youth team players as well as players who have committed to the cause for the forthcoming United Counties League Premier Division South campaign.

After a fairly even opening period, The Saints eventually took the lead when a long ball over the top was misjudged by the visiting keeper and LORRELL SMITH capitalised when he out muscled the custodian who was on the edge of his own box and managed to rill the ball into an empty net. Parity was to resume just four minutes later as the visitors equalised when a low shot went through a number of legs and bast the unsighted Anthony in goal.

After making no less than six changes at the break, Saints were understandedly less fluent in the opening exchanges of the second half and the visitors were to score what would be the winning goal after 58 minutes . Despite their best efforts, St Neots couldn’t find the back of the net to level the scores much to the disappointment of the majority of a fantastic attendance of 456 supporters who were to go home disapointed with the final score but excited by what they had seen and looking forward to the rest of pre season and the new season.

Saints now look forward to next Saturday and the visit of Skybet League One side Stevenage FC
